Default removing headliner out cargo door?

Stupid question. I have a 2000 disco II I had to remove the headliner because of a sunroof leak and just had my headliner redone. when I removed the headliner out the cargo door I had trouble removing it without it bending. Is there a trick to getting it back in? I would hate to miss up the new headliner by having to bend it to get it through the cargo door. also what do you prefer to reseal the sunroof to the roof ? i'm thinking of using 3M 4000 marine sealant?

Easier with help. I had to epoxy some little metal mending straps to the underside of the weak area outside the sunroof (1 man show) then the flimsy was gone.
No need to adhere it. The pillars, compartments, visors are plenty to hold it. I layered some radiant barrier to the bare roof before re install, for a little extra insulation.

I would like to know the answer to this as well. I had the same problem removing mine through the cargo door.

The radiant barrier is a really good idea especially since my disco doesn't have ac for the back seat's. But i'm still wondering the best way to get the headliner back in my disco II.

The little mending straps worked great. Provided plenty of rigidity to make install no problem. I epoxied them but double side mounting tape would work. I just guided it in, rested on headrest, brought one side up onto pillars, then the other. Started fastening from visors back.

Did you drop the rear seat backs and recline the fronts as much as possible? You're going to have to bend the headliner a bit but if the rear seat backs are down you can move the headliner in at a greater angle to reduce the amount of bending to almost nothing. With care it doesn't harm the headliner at all.

That's what I did to remove it I just didn't like the fact of bending it. But If that's how it has to be done I will re install it the same way and try to keep bending it to a minimal. At least it not like trying to remove a headliner from a jaguar.

Do what everyone said above AND also unhook the rear cargo door check bracket on bottom. This will allow door to swing open further.Remove the spare tire too. However you do need someone to prevent the door from opening too far and damaging rear light an d sheet metal. You will be able to reinstall without bending headliner at all. Good luck!

Great Idea I'm going to do that when I get my Disco back from having ball joints replaced.

something I noticed while doing mine: if you just fold the rear seats and don't flip them up too, the headliner goes in alot easier. Wish I had thought of disconnecting the rear door stop though.
