Removing The Rear Flange

Removing The Rear Flange
Hey guys, I am in need of help - I got my replacement driveshaft, and have everything apart but I am having a hell of a time getting the old three bolt flange off the the rear differential. Is there some trick to this? All splined things such as this thing that I've come across has slid out rather easily. Is there something holding it in that I am missing? Thanks alot! -Justin

RE: Removing The Rear Flange
Well here is a pic of my mangled old flange. I am guessing that I need to remove the post in the center of the three bolts to get at the nut that holds on the flange? What I really need is a run-down on how to get this thing off from the stage it is in below. Thanks alot! -Justin

RE: Removing The Rear Flange
Hey guys - I'm far from home so I have limited supplies and tools, thus making this quite a pain. I need to get this thing off asap - and I'm finding it hard to believe no one knows the proper way of removal. I have some creative idea's of removing it myself, but without my dial calipers I can't even take my own guess of a step without finding some measurements. Can anyone tell me the size of the threaded hole in the photo below? Seems to be 7mm or 8mm. I plan on making my own type of pulling device to try to get this thing apart. (Actually I have everything I need except the bolts.) Any help, explicit directions, or even a gentle nudge on the right path would be much appreciated. This is my only car here, so I'm limited to a bicycle for parts runs (plus I'm in Montana, limiting myself even further. - No one in town even sells metric in the length I need, so I need to order the right size.) Thanks again - Justin
