Removing upper plenum issues - SAI and coolant pipe clamps to intake manifold
If anybody's around...I'm at removing the runners from the plenum, all's loose, except it appears to be hanging up on the bracket for the SAI ductwork, between the runners and the firewall. I can barely see it, but it appears there are 2 screws that are holding the erunners. It's kinda springy...In any case, If I remove those screws, difficult, it will bee nearly impossible to re-install them later...
Sooo, before, I do something i do something I live to regrert, I thought i'd see if anyone could shed a bit of light on the subject. All usable input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I pulled the SAI tubes away from the engine (and off those bolts), I did not remove the SAI tubes. When tried to remove the tubes, they crimped and started to tear at the corrugations. And yes, I tried the crowsfeet attachment on the union.
Once the SAI tubes are pulled to the side, the plenum will tilt up one side, and pull away from the bolt bracket and you then cam remove it.
I sold my 2002 Rover and bought a new 2012 Explorer, so far so good. Of course we are having issues with the My Sync, but what would you expect with a product from Ford and Microsoft? Reminds me of the gem "When the Blind lead the Lame, they both fall into the ditch"

Hi, John,
I've got the SAI bracketry, et all, clear. The problem is "something" aft of the runners...I can't see back there for squat. The runners start to lift off the dowel pins, but then they hang-up on something "back there"...I'm afraid it's the fuel rails, worst case...and the bracket that holds the cross over for the SAI...best case...? In any case, I don't want to force it. I was hoping someone else had the same problem at one time or another...and RESLOVED it...w/out breaking anything...!
I'll get back to it tomorrow night...If I find/discover/stumble upon anything useful,. I'll post it.
In the mean time, if anyone else has any thoughts, I'd like to hear them...
Thanks

To get the SAI fittings off....18mm crows foot and a 27mm box wrench. Different length extensions needed. On one set-up I used 3/8 to 1/4 drive adapter with short extension and 1/4 to 3/8 adapter and crows foot. If they are stuck use PB Blaster 4 times at each location waiting an hour between applications.
