Plenum/Intake Manifold
Hi,
I'm new to Land Rover and suddenly (1 month later) need to replace the Plenum and both valve motors in my new-to-me '04 Freelander. Question: The mechanic yesterday cleared the codes (at least the lights are off for now), and the Freelander is drivable. It drives fine - just a tiny little flutter in the engine noise. How long do I have before I NEED to get this done?
I've been researching parts - I've already found that I can save $700 if I buy the parts myself. I know the mechanic will just LOVE that. But I really just need to know what kind of timeline I'm looking at before I rush out and get it done. Do I have time to work on getting the dealer to cover some of the costs? Do I have time to haggle with the 3-month warrantor, etc. Or is the Rover going to conk out on me again in the middle of a trip across town?
Thanks,
Ben

Get it to the lr dealer. The valve motors don't cause problems. Trust me I have seen more indies put the motors in and not fix the real problem. If it flutters it could be something else. If it sounds like popcorn then the flaps are coming loose.
