Default Repaint roof rack

Hey everyone I’m picking up a voyager roof rack at a good price but it has some scratches and alittle surface rust under where the lights mount. What’s the best way to repaint this , preferably just painting the bad spots . I want it to look as good as possible . Would just satin rustoleum that has uv protection work

You could use a spraycan...

prep is where it's at though. Rust should be removed completely and the existing paint should be wiped down with some degreaser or paint thinner.

then after letting that dry for a few minutes, spray away.

I found a super old thread on it and someone said to use rustoleum professional . Is the flat black going to match the powder coat or should I find a satin

That's something based on the can.
I've bought numerous cans of the same exact product and had differences in the can.

use a can on a low visual area and see how you like it.

the last time I sprayed our rack I had enough to do the whole thing
