Default repainting the rover

The Hood and Roof of my green 95 D1 has gotten pretty bad this year. Looks like I will need to have it repainted. Should I have the entire vehicle reapainted or just the hood and roof? (the rest looks pretty good and doesn't have any of the paint fading that the roof and hood have).

Does anyone have any advice on this? Should I just take it to somewhere like Maaco? I intend to drive my rover for a very long time, so I like to do things right the first time.

Also - What is the benefit of having a white roof (like the defenders) is this a style thing or is there a function to this?

I desperately need to wash my truck as well.. alot of what you see is dirt/mud, but there is still a great deal of paint failing as well.

thanks

The white roof is supposed to be less of a heat trap. Also, I think it looks really cool. In my opinion, it would look pretty slick if you got the roof painted white and then had the hood repainted the stock color with the raised section flat black. That's what I plan on doing to my '03 eventually.

yeah that thing definitely needs a spray...

i wouldn't go with MAACO... you get what you pay for. my buddy had his camaro painted there and they did a horrendous job. although, he complained to them and they re-did it AND refunded him, so... maybe not so bad after all.

white roof might actually look pretty cool. never seen it on a Disco.

I wouldhave the whole truck repainted.
What caused that I wonder. To many automatic car washes? Fallout from a factory smoke stack?

My British Racing green 97 Disco has the same fading on the roof and hood. Right now it is not a priority on my to-do list but eventually I will have it repainted. I want to do it just to prevent rusting more than looks. Since I plan on turning my D1 into an off-road toy repainting the whole truck doesn't make sense to me. Just going to get beat up again on the trails.

Do your homework, all Maaco's are not the same.Yes, they are known for their economical paint jobs but some Maaco's offer more than a $599 paint job. But definately paint the entire truck.
