Default Update

Ok, I talked with an independent LR mechanic... He said security ECU will normally talk to the engine ECM to enable it before start. When this happens, the yellow "Check Engine" light on the upper-left of the instrument panel will illuminate a second after the key is moved into position II ('ignition'). This is the same time when all the lights go illuminated as 'light check'. So if all the lights are ok but "check engine" does not come up - that means the code exchange is not happening, likely because "the security configuration is lost". Guess what? this is exactly what happens on my truck Other symptoms include no spark, injectors don't fire, while fuel pump is working fine and starter cranks fine (although it starts after about 5 seconds delay).

It has to be brought to dealer on a tow truck to be reprogrammed.

Considering the Disco is on the island connected by ferry to continental US, and the island doesn't happen to have LR shop, I'm thinking what could be more fun - moving the car or inviting an LR mechanic with whatever device is needed for a weekend

sounds like a spider issue or an alarm system issue. If youe have a 96 or newer its right under the glove box, if its a95 or older its behind ur radio, etc above the heater core.
