Replaced head gaskets now radiator problem?
Hang in there SDavis, once you get through all of these "normal" high mile service items you should be smooth sailing for the next few years!! However there are always things needing to be done... What were your other two times in the shop for?
The 1700 for the HG's was not a ripoff if you don't have the time or skills to do the job yourself and you trust/like your mechanic. that is the average going rate from what folks on here say. Consider yourself lucky, over here in Seattle the going rate is $2400 at the Rover specific shops.
This is why I've taken the advice of many on this forum and started doing some of the easier stuff myself... like brakes, shocks, transmission service, front drive shaft, etc.
This way I still have some money left when I do need a shop. :-)

The difference is that the SAI specific radiator has an extra port at the bottom of the right side for a temp sensor. Most replacement radiators come with a plug in that port that can be left in place for a non-SAI application. It's easy to tell if you have SAI, there will be a big plastic air pump at the back part of the R/F fender liner under the hood and there will be corrugated pipes going into both of the heads. Or you could just have them order the SAI version and leave the plug in if they don't have an extra sensor hanging down on the right side of the radiator when they're done
