Default Replacement subwoofer opinions and other stuff

Good morning. As some of you may know I am in the process of preforming much needed maintenance on my new 1999 discovery which I’m replacing the hose assembly and maybe the thermostat as the one that’s in there is ok. It looks original so I best keep it classic as I can. I’ve got a new 1 inch t fitting, though no fitting and completely metal! I’m thinking of changing the tranny fluid in another 40,000miles as it was changed 20000 miles ago, to valvoline full synthetic. I’m just cleaned the radiator and the condenser with a steel wire brush. So now it’s time get those old factory subwoofers out. I found 2 8+8 ohm subwoofers. I think these are a good fit. Now does anyone have any other recommendations?

All depends on the ol' budget. New HU and rewire the whole truck for a new system? Or keep everything stock for the most part and just update the speakers?

What OEM system do you have currently?

I found that with a new head unit the speakers sounded brand new... I have the low level OEM system and turns out it was the head unit that sounded like crap, speakers are still working fine and sounding good with a Kenwood aftermarket unit. I added a 3 channel amp under the passenger seat to power a 12" sub in the back cargo area and the two front door speakers.

Also no sense in keeping the factory thermostat in there, go get a britpart 180 degree unit since you will have the hoses apart anyway. That may postpone your next head gasket job.

I did a 10" sub on the back door. It's designed so that I can use the two jump seats. Sounds great. Also replaced the rest of the system

the harman and kardon which I love! One of the folks on here is gonna look at a few wrecking yards in 2 weeks at the most.

If anybody I. The meantime has a headunit they are willing to sell under 20 bucks for my premium system I’ll take it!

Thats nice! But I do love my Harman kardon system. It sounds good for it’s age. Just no bass! Is there anyway to rebuild the mid range. I’d like to recone them!

I change out my head unit to a alpine, was surprised how well the Harmon cardon Speakers sounded, my base speakers were blown. So I ordered a kit to fix them one worked the other did not, so I had a spare coaxial speaker that was the right size stuck it in there and it works good.
