Replacing '03D2 Motor - 4.6 RR or Refurb 4.0?
#21
So for my application, I've reluctantly settled on finding a higher quality build of our trusty V8. My local indie (jahn @RovinRovers in Seattle) is talking to a few different engine builders. One of the motors is a 5.0, the other increased in size to 5.2, which is my understanding to be the maximum size limit for our venerable pushrod V8.
So far we've looked at Toddco & Great Plains here in the US, Turner and Real Steel. If anyones interested, i'll update back once the build is underway.

I would love to hear what you go with and you might want to call these guys...seems like the people on the other side of the pond have more experience with tinkering with this engine

The last shop that i talked with was Wildcat engineering.
Welcome to Wildcat Engineering
My friend back home in Scotland has used them for a few builds and has been very impressed.

I bought an engine from Mike at Great Plains and had it installed by my mechanic. It has been 2 1/2 months and so far it is running great. It took longer than expected to get the block but Mike was good to deal with and the thing hasnt missed a beat. I am HOPING to keep it for another 10 years at least.
