There are no special tools. How do you know it is bad? Have you already purchased another one?

family friend who is a land rover mechanic said it was bad. It ran to much and it would keep popping the fuses and finally quit. But no i havent ordered one. He said he could order me one for roughly 425.00, (new). Do you know of any other deals. Ive considered coil spring conversion but i still dont know.

There's goods ans bads about the SLS. The bad being that you never know when it will let go AGAIN!!!

With coils, it's the end of these worries PERIOD.

I did mine a few weeks ago, and took the opportunity to go with an aftermarket Old Man Emu suspension while converting to coils. My biggest worries was loosing the plush ride quality of the SLS, mainly because I was gonna use the medium heavy duty coils with heavy duty shocks at the rear to avoid sagging when the rear seats are occupied or when the disco is towing or loaded. To my great amazement, I can say that the ride is just as comfortable than with the SLS. I have to admit that the bigger tires ( from 255/65r16 to 265/70r16 ( 2 inches more))could play a part in that comfort.

I'm sure you'll make the right choice for yourself, but don't let the ride quality worries affect your decision .

Good luck,

Darover.

The one thimng always forget when they talk about Disco's and their rear suspensions, the coils alway collapse before they hit 40,000, what does that say about coils.
I replace my bags after 83,000 miles cause they were starting to leak and trust me, my truck has been on trails you wouldn't want to walk over much less drive.
SLS is a great way to go and by far more versital then coils, handles the one sided loads, ride smoother and you can't beat that extra lift when you are coming off a 3 or 4 foot rock ledge.

O.K for the stock coils, but then again those are guarantied worry free 40 000 miles, while your air bags which you were lucky lasted you that long are just time bombs with no real reliability. Bags can leak, air lines can leak, and compressors can fail. And on top of it all, it has it's own computer!!![&:]

So go with an aftermarket coil and worries are gone.

Just keep in mind that the dealerships hold the coil conversion in stock, while they have to order any SLS part( around here anyways). That right there says a lot....

But hey... to each is own. I personnally see it as one less thing to worry about

Go to this web site and get a price from them for a good used pump.
