Replacing The Alternator Question
#1
#2
The grooved pulley below the alternator is attached to the tensioner arm. Use a 15mm sucket and breaker bar on the bolt in the center of that pulley and turn the breaker bar as if to tighten the bolt. The arm will move and loosen tension on the belt, when you can remove the belt from the alternator pulley.
(the alternator pulley is usually the last pulley I put the belt over when replacing the belt)

That link should have opened 1 video and @ 3:47 in you will see the belt removal. If that link isn't getting it try this...
Go to Land Rover Parts & Rover Accessories From Atlantic British | Discovery, Range Rover, LR3, LR2, Defender, Freelander and Land Rover Series Parts & Accessories Click on " New! Rover Resources How-To Videos!" Then under VIDEO SEARCH select DII and KEYWORD: "BELT". It's the first video... " Belt Replacement Service On Discovery 2".
You can also see the belt removal here @ 3:30 > http://www.roverparts.com/resources/...t-discovery-2/
