Replacing brake booster - anything I need to know?
This looks pretty straightforward. I've got the RAVE manual CD, and it looks easy. Anything "extra" I need to know to do this, or do I just pull the old one out and put the new one in?
The truck is a 2002 Disco II.

And another question: I managed to get a **** ton of brake fluid all over the stuff around the servo. Is this stuff going to be corrosive to the wires and whatnot?
And my amateur diagnosis of the problem: The little plunger (long, skinny metal rod with a black cap) inside the brake booster that articulates with the master cylinder was kind of flopping around, like it had come loose at the base. The one on the replacement booster was rigid and sticking out straight. What kind of problems could this cause (or be a symptom of)?
new one should come with an o-ring, yeah brake fluids not good for anything it touches, get some brake cleaner and unload, but then give it time before you start the car, as to avoid a thermal event, and lastly, it sounds like just normal wear gone a bit too far, only thing i see causing that would be a incredibly loose brake pedal
I didn't buy a new brake booster. I bought a used one.
Is the o-ring in question the little skinny one that fits at the base of where the master cylinder and the servo articulate? If so, the old one looks ok.
I'm going to have to put the MC back on tomorrow. Ran out of daylight because I had to go buy a tool that I needed (I was sure I had it already when I started the job, but I was wrong) in the middle of it.

Okay, I think I got it. Haven't fired the truck up yet though. Going to wait to do the plugs and wires first. I'd rather run this thing with its misfire as little as possible.
Also, I need to add brake fluid, because I spilled so much from the reservoir on the master cylinder. Can I just add more, or do I need to flush out the system, somehow, and go with completely new brake fluid?
This was a pain in the ***. The procedure itself wasn't that tough, but operating around the pedals was tough for me. I'm a tall guy, and I'm not real comfortable trying to get down that low.
