Default Replacing CV joint - are we sure the hub needs to come off?

With all the DOA hubs I’ve received in 2020, I’ve gotten hub replacement down to an easy 1 hour, 15 minutes That being said - I’d love to not remove them again if not entirely necessary. For replacing the CV joint, RAVE says to remove the hub. Is this really necessary since the entire axle can be removed with the hub still in place?

Also, never replaced a CV joint before, but looks extremely straight forward. Am I delusional? Seems like the reason The Internet claims it’s a difficult procedure is due to the difficulty removing the hub nut. That’s been an absolute breeze with my 4-foot breaker bar, so no issue there.

You have to remove hub...only way to get it out.

I’ve removed the axles without removing the hubs, just wondering if the hubs need to be removed for the purposes of replacing the CV joints.

You didn't ask about removing axle in first post, you asked about removing a C/V joint. And, to remove C/V joint...you have to remove hub. If you are changing axle housing, yes...you do not need to remove hubs.
