Default replacing keys...

do I have to go to dealer to get either a electronic key or a standard metallic one?...I need a backup key and I don't need it to be powered, and I'm wondering the cheapest way to go about it? Thanks

I got a standard key made at Lowe's. They didn't have an exact match for the blank, but we found one that was very close and it seems to work fine.

I need to do the same thing. There are tons of blanks to be had on ebay for reasonable prices (both electronic and standard): http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories

I went to all the local hardware stores (home depot, lowes, ace) they tried to cut one but it wouldn't turn the locks. I ordered a blank on ebay and had it cut at ACE, it works. My only original key is VERY worn, that probably didn't help.

Yep, ebay is the place, I bought 4 from there and had them cut at Ace and they all work great

Just go to a regular locksmith shop and they will have what you need. The blank for my 02 Disco is a RV4-P, or ask for a Peterbuilt truck key blank, same thing. I bought three for less than ten bucks...
