Replacing my front shaft
Ok, I have a HD front shaft coming from GBR, my rovers has 62K and I dont wanna learn the hard way that they decide to let go with no grease in them, I must say that the people at GBR are awesome, I talked with Sean for over an hour trying to help me make a decision what would be best for my rover.
My question is.... any tips on the replacement before I get started. They will be sending new nuts, she explained to me that the HD shaft doesn't need a boot since the way theirs is designed with a hard rubber protector of the spline it does not need protection like the stock shaft. Sean suggested hitting the existing with PB blaster for 2 days to save some knuckle bleeding and foul language. Is there anything else I should consider while on my back under 5000# of steel and aluminum?

Ratcheting wrenches are very helpful. The last time I pulled mine, I had it out in 10 minutes with two 14mm wrenches (one ratcheting, one normal) and a 15mm wrench to act as extension for breaking the nuts loose.
Chock a rear wheel (both sides so it won't roll either direction), set the ebrake, and put the transfer case in neutral. Then you remove the prop shaft nuts you can access, jack up one front tire and spin the wheel til the other nuts are accessible. Then lower the jack and loosen the remaining nuts.
I replaced all the nuts and the front bolts with new hardware. The stock stuff was not great quality.

I have to admit, I NEVER get under a vehicle without jack stands, ever. Even when along side the road and changing a tire, I never allow any part of my body under the fender or wheel.
I witnessed a person that had a vehicle fall on them. Did not survive. Also, I've spent many years in construction, and around heavy equipment. They drive that home on a daily basis. It only takes a small portion of the vehicle's weight to ruin your day.

Ok, I did it removed the stock shaft and replaced it with a GBR HD shaft, took her for a spin and no vibration and a little more peace of mind. Went together pretty easy, 8 bolts and while I was under cleaned up all the oil splash, now I will be able to see where any drips are coming from. Thanks for all the help and advice, next new stat and get rid of the Dexcool I took a few pics but whats the trick to uploading them? do they have to be compressed before upload?
