Don't even bother with autozone or Napa O2 sensors.
Autozone sells Bosch sensors that are Land Rover specific. I don't know about all Bosch sensors, but the Land Rover ones are made by NTK, OEM for Land Rover.
I just installed a set in my Disco.
Quite a few companies "make" Disco specific sensors, though I suspect many actually come from NTK.
The main factor in choosing who you get them from is where you can get the best price.

Mike, I could use your help on these codes, I believe it is O2-sensors: P0130 and P0171.

From my research here, I have come to the conclusion that I have to replace my O2-sensors, would you agree with it? Please advice soon, as I would like to NOT take it to the dealer and get my ride ready for the early spring Maine trip with my lady-- thank you sir, much appreciate ALL your help here; cheers!

AJ

Default Too Lean CEL

Hey all, having same issue...lean left and right bank P1171 / P1174.

A while ago, I washed out engine compartment and car ran really rough for about 1/2 hour and CEL came on. Then ran fine...I cleared the P1171 / P1174 and all OK. The car was a bit hard to start for a few days, and now a week and half later, the P1171 / P1174 came back. Cleared it again and will see if it is OK...some water still in connectors perhaps? Don't think I got any in the air filter, but maybe....never changed O2 sensors, MAF, or anything to this truck (pretty reliable, unlike my crap Volvo)

I know its not good practice to wash out engine bay, but figure, hey, its a Rover...these practically swim underwater...

116k miles, 2001 Disco II

Thanks in advance.

It's not fun to reach, but if you got water in the connectors (it wasn't connecting well), it ran OK (things dried out enough to run well) and now it isn't (thing started corroding in there from being wet?) it wouldn't hurt ti get the connector apart, clean it, and then put omse dielectric grease on it.

Most of the electrical connector problems I've had in trucks I've had in water and boats have been prevented with a periodic cleaning and dielectric application.

It's close to free, so it's worth a shot.

It's the upstream O2 connector. Find the O2 sensor in the left side exhaust pipe in front of the cat and follow it up. It's in a tough spot to reach in front of the firewall and behind the motor. You'll probably need to get at it from below.

How do you remove the o2 plugs from the support bracket?

OK, cleaned out most all of the connectors under hood with contact cleaner and put a dab of dielectric grease. I am still having a bit of a hard time starting the truck, and the error codes P1171 and P1174 still popping up.

Thinking of taking out and cleaning the Air flow sensor. Is it worth cleaning the O2 sensor? My guess is it should be badly carboned up.

If bad O2 sensor, would engine be hard to start?

I have meters that tell me % O2 and other readings...anything I should look for?
