rim size question
I have a stock 2001 Disco II with 16" wheels. Would like to go to 18" wheels. Question: Is it as simple as buying 18" wheels, or do I need to lift? I have been thinking about a 1.5-2" lift anyways - something that won't require additional mods. Drive off road very seldom...
Any input appreciated.

the 16" wheel and 18" wheel, from the factory, have the same outside tire diameter. the 18" will just have a lower profile tire. unless you buy some used 18" Land Rover wheels and the previous owner put bigger tires on it.
i had 18's on my truck, the tires were 255-55-18, 29", i traded a guy for some 16" wheels, and those are 255-65-16, 29"

They can't be any 18'' rims. They have to be from a Disco II or a Range Rover P38 if you want to avoid having to use wheel spacers. Keep in mind that tires for the 18'' rims are going to be more money and the selection is going to be more limited. You don't have to install a lift kit, Land Rover Discoveries came from the factory with both the 16's and the 18's and the suspension remained the same. If you are going to add a lift kit then I would keep the 16's their is no point in installing the lift and going with 18's.
Put up an add on Craigslist and in the Classifieds here that you want to trade and I'm sure you'll find someone....Assuming you are wanting Land Rover rims and not something different.
The rims off of the newer Range Rover Sport will also work....

Not sure what you are looking for, but i've got a set (4) of LR Disco 18" wheels in my garage. They aren't the "hurricanes" if I'm right, which are the 03-04 18" wheels, but they are in great shape and I'm not looking to make big bucks off them.
Let me know if you want them, they are listed in the classifieds with pictures. And I disagree with others, if you aren't an off-roading fool (just on occasion), the 18's with a lift and with slightly larger rubber is the way to go, I love that look, and might do that to my wife's D2 before long.
You can have the nice 18" look and still have enough sidewall to wheel adequately, especially for "mild to little" off-roading. Good luck either way.

also, post in the range rover side or wheels and tires section next time
Is this lifted at all? Looks like a 2" lift.

Those look like 275/65/18 imo. I run bfg all terrains and those look pretty close to that size. But I think Duratracs are a little bit bigger of a tire. Much more expensive though. I like the look of the 18's.
Actually those could even be 265/65/ duratracs.
