Roof Painting
So the clear on my roof is going, and I wanted to paint it black anyway. Atleast I think I do. I have an epsom green w black powder coated 16" wheels. Thinking a semi gloss black to match the wheels. In the same vein as the silver one on here that was in Moab this week. Brave, taking that trip, 4k miles plus the off road. I love it!
Does anyone have a ball park price that it should cost? I am sure a Maaco place would be dirt cheap, but I am hoping for the paint to last several years at least.
I am intrigued about doing it myself. Only because I enjoy the work and it seems simple enough that it is unlikely I will screw up beyond repair.
Any input is appreciated.

I recently had a quote from Maaco for $1200, paid a local guy $900 to paint a roof black on a black truck..
Personally, I prefer a white roof on an Epson Green truck. LR's never came with black roofs, but they did come with white roofs when exported to mideastern and african countries.

that last picture of the green D2 has a 2.8 diesel installed! I think I found a sale listing for it.
the different roof color always seems to look great on someone else’s truck. I just paid to have my roof stripped of its black & repainted factory color. I think it was 1100 including remove alpine windows & reseal.

I had removed my rails to make labor easier for paint - (remove headliner; the bolts are right there stating at you)
they masked the sun roof & gutter rails
they did however cut the exposed surface of my windshield seal, which runs along the roof line. They felt that was the best way to get the paint & seal done properly -
Coincidentally I’m awaiting a windshield replacement, at which time I’ll have the glass co install new seal (which I ordered ahead of time from rovers north)
roof paint looks factory. Cannot tell any masking
