This is what do. Cargo/ski box on a set of cross bars attached to roof rack.

Lol, yes.

I looked on craigslist for some plastic grating. Found an ad for a local farmer.

I still have some left, cut the slats on the bottom. Drill self tappers and bang, got a floor.

$5/sheet.
