Anyone have luck installed a roof tent with the safety devices rack? I don't like the tent sitting 1 foot away from the roof the way the rack is. The rack basket is 48" wide and I can't find a tent under 50". What kind of set ups are you all running?

 

I don't use a roof tent, but you can buy the Garvin Wilderness Rack I have for sale in the classifieds here and have space for a tent. The rack's inside dimensions are 54" x 82", and the bars are closer together than the Safety Devices rack.

 

I I have a tepui roof top tent. On a saftey devices rack.
It czme with aluminum bars with adjustable sliders to mount tent. Ivd had it bothe ways to open from side and back.. at stock height. I can open the tent and put on the annex. And like it was made for the disco with sd racks.

 

I'd really like to keep my safety devices rack since I just like how it looks. Have to think of something. I just want to be able to throw up the tent without having to put stakes in the ground. Too much volcanic rock and sand here.

 

I have just bought a replacement Disco 2 after my last died in a crash. The new one has an SD roof rack and I just ordered a Thule Tepui Ayer 2 roof top tent as the dimensions work. I am curious about your post as you said you can open it sideways and I am curious how the tent opens over the cage bar at either the side or the rear.

Do you have any pictures you could share as I would greatfully appreciate it.
