Default Rotella T6 vs. Rotella T 15w40 difference

Guys, I know this is a dumb question, but I have no experience with Rotella in gas engines and I am fairly new to Rovers (though not new to wrenching). I only used for Diesel. I looked specifically for T6 15w40 and all I seem to find is 5w40 in the "T6" and 15w40 in the "T" .....help. Does 15w40 exist in T6 or will Rotella T 15w40 work?

T6 is synthetic and only comes in the lighter weights. I use regular Rotella T as do a lot of others without issue.

T6 is only available in 5W40, and now apparently 0W40 (which is all my local Advanced Auto carries now... great...).

Personally, I'll use it in the winter months when it's below freezing. Otherwise, I run Rotella T5, a 15w40 semi synthetic. Rotella T is just fine to use, so long as you're not using it in a cold climate.

Some guys run synthetic with no problems, others find it leaks with their seals. Personally, here in Texas, straight up dino oil, Rotella T (Triple Protection) 15w40. If you have sub-freezing cold start days, some switch to 5w-40 in cold months.

Don't forget extra capacity filter like Mobil 1 or Napa 1515 or Wix 51515

The Mobil 1 is the M301-1 I believe. That's the one I recommend. If you go Wix then go ahead and get the XP. Its synthetic filtering material and almost as good as the Mobil 1. The number is XP51515. I've never used the Napa or read about it, but I know between the Mobil and Wix the Mobil filters a little better.

M1-301 OR M3-301? I believe it's the first, but please correct me if I am wrong because I just bought the M1-301

Ah, yes, I knew it looked kinda funny. Definitely the M1-301. Thanks for the correction.

Jamie, I swap mine every change. I believe most guys do the same.

Easy way to cross reference the large oil filter is to use the FRAM PH8A part # and go from there. I prefer the Mobil 1 M301, the K&N 3001, or the Bosch 3500 myself and the dino Rotella 15/40w.
