Default Rough Idle & Lose of Power

Hi - my 97' Discovery has been giving me troubles as of late. When I come to a stop, the car would idle very rough and the engine would cut out. I can start the car, but when braking, need to keep my foot on the gas to keep the idle and prevent the car from cutting out.

To fix the problem, my mechanic replaced the Idle Air Control Motor. That seemed to fix the problem for about a week. Now, the car seems to have the same problem with one addition. The car will go about 20 MPH and no faster. Trying to give the car more gas, a thump sound like a flat tire would come from the left side of the engine. If you let the car drift and then give it more gas, it will then accelerate. If you have any experience with this, please help - Thanks!!

Default No codes, but found the problem

I did not have a device to read the codes, plus the check engine light never came on. Not sure if the light needs to appear in order for a code to register. I had my mechanic check the fuel pump pressure. It was very low - ranged from 11 - 15. Per the service book, it should be about 33. Looks like a new fuel pump should fix it.

Before you replace the fuel pump look into the fuel pressure regulator.
It sounds like it is not working correctly because you said that if you let off the gas and then get back on it you hear a loud noise from the passenger side, which is the side the fuel PSI regulator is on.
