Default Rough/stumbling idle 2001 discovery 2

I have a rough/stumbling idle it started out to just do it here or there at red light now it’s almost always at idle. I have no check engine light. I have replaced spark plugs, coils, wires, fuel injectors upstream o2 sensors I cleaned idle air valve, oil separator. I really don’t know what else to check !!!

It sounds like you’ve done your homework. Have you researched idle in the RAVE manual?

Do you have an MAF you can swap in? Checked for vacuum leaks?

With all of that stuff replaced a reset of the adaptive settings would be ideal. Is the air filter clean? It could certainly be a vacuum leak as well.

Not sure how to reset adaptive settings. I have looked around visual I sprayed some carb cleaner around a few places but I have not been able to find a vacuum leak.

Crank/cam sensor.

I had one that went out, replaced with new, ran like crap, got a used one from the yard, and it's been in since running real smooth.

How many miles? Timing chain and gears, low compression, vacuum leak, maybe try changing gas stations or low fuel pressure (bad pump).

I guess, if l did all of the work you've done with no improvement...my next step would be...throwing a vacuum gauge on it...this will tell you the quailty of the engine. Then check compression and/or exhaust manifold at each cylinder when hot at idle, with IR gun, to see if you have an unusually low output cylinder(s).

Also, are you sure your check engine/service engine soon light works? Does it come on when you first turn the key to the second position?

yes check engine light works it was on when I first purchased with o2 sensor fault replaced o2 500 miles has not come back or threw a pending. I have a Ultragauge. 183000 miles i have not checked compression or timing chain because I was under the impression if it was that it would do it all the time? It has its days where it never skips a beat at idle so I always fall back to fuel / electrical. I will check all these things over the next week I don’t have the tools handy so I will have to go rent them.
