routing of serpentine belt
Hi all
1. I have come across numerous threads in this forum that says that the serpentine belt on a 300tdi disco must be routed properly. What is meant by this and how does one do this.
2. How do you remove the serpentine belt from a disco 1?
Thanks for your help
Regards

To remove the serpentine belt on a Disco 1, you take a socket wrench with a long handle and a socket to fit the nut in the center of the tensioner pulley and push against the direction of tension. It is not that hard a push. While pushing to release tension with one hand, remove the belt from something on top, such as the alternator, then release the tensioner pulley and remove belt. Don't foget to note the path of the belt and install new belt in exactly the same path. It is probably easiest when installing new belt to put it over the alternator pulley last, while relieving tension on the tensioner pulley just as you did to remove belt.
If it is not routed properly your alternator will not charge and your water pump will not cool the engine as well as it should.
