Default Rover Rally Gone Bad

Went through a Muddy puddle about 3.5- 4 feet deep at the beginning of an outting with my buddy and our rovers, I went first made it all the way through and my my truck died ? I checked my air intake for water but there was a little in the bottom of the box but none made to the maf it was nice and dry. Got it to start but sparatic idle, disconnected my battery cables and my fuel enertia switch and let them dry, being how the ecu is right next to it i was happy to see it was dry. The idle has got smoother but dies within seconds and i gave it a day to dry out. I know when you turn the key to the on position the fuel pump kicks on and builds pressure and iv heard it but only for split second any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Come on guys any help would be nice. I no I shouldnt have done it but I need help, advice. Is there a way to test the fuel pump with an electrical tester or somewhere that sells a pressure gauge that will fit on the pressure relief valve. Is there any way to test my crankshaft sensor, my mechanic said it could be that among other things.

Check your ignition for water. Coil, wires and distributer if it has one.

How fast were you going though the water?

This is how it is supposed to be done.

I checked my wires and coil pack and they were all dry the ecu was a little wet around the base but dry the rest of the way around. I startd out slow to cause a wake but as soon as i saw the water splash up over the pass. side hood I panicked a bit and sped up a little. I went and tried starting it this morning and it fired right up an sounded good besides the little bit lifter tick I get after its sat for day in colder weather. I turned the key to the on position and pushed on the bleeder valve on the fuel rail and there was a slow trickle of fuel ? My buddy went through it 3 times with his 98 disco and had no problems? Thank you for the help! Oh as for speed about 5mph at start and increased to about 7-9mph at the end.

The fuel should squirt across the garage and hit the other wall when you press on the schrader valve with the key on. (assuming it has not sat all night)
But the only way to know for 100% is with a fuel PSI gauge.

We tried within the first hour it had died after disconnecting the battery terminals an turning the key to the on position. Ya i thought the fuel should spray out with a bit of pressure behind it but just a trickle the few times we tried. You can pick up a fuel psi tester at any auto parts store cant you ? And at what psi should i be getting or voltage reading from the wires connecting to the pump ( rave cd does not say only fuel pump relay reading given). Thanks Again.

Yes you can rent a fuel psi gauge at a auto parts store.

You should have mid 30's with the engine running.
