Default which rover would you buy?

ok, so my wife drove my rover off road for the first time this weekend. for those of you up to date my wifes car was crushed in the last winter storm when our carport collapsed. so wife is looking for a new vehicle. fast forward to wife driving rover this weekend offroad. now wife wants a land rover. both for daily driving and off roading (we go offroading at least once a week).

what rover would you buy?

i was thinking a 2004 disco II.

suggestions?

Definitely 2004. That's what I woulda bought, only couldn't afford it. Now, my wife wants an LR3, but we can't afford that, so we're talking about an '04, which will make me jealous cuz my '03 doesn't have CDL, and she'll never drive it like it's meant to be.

I have been driving the 2004 SE7 (48K Mi) for a month now and if I may say so, the smaller 4.0 L feels smoother than the 4.6 L on cold startup. The 4.0 L does not have the electric smog pump that the 4.6 L uses on cold startup to cut down emissions. This pump sounds like a bull horn. (I am exaggerating a bit).

If you run across a 1999-2000-2001 (first half) with low miles and good maintenance, buy it. I would not write off this option just so I can have a 2004.

My favorite still is the 2000 SD.

101 Forward Control. That or one of the Camel Trophy 110s.
