Default RTE Suspension Installed - Impressions

Thanks once again to this forum for providing so much information and assistance!

Simon, RTE-Fab was a pleasure to work with. I’ve read some past threads where he can be difficult to get a hold of at times but I didn’t experience that. I did call many times, especially during the install and if he didn’t pickup I got a call back a short time later.

Components are very high quality. Everything powder-coated with a dark grey metallic.
I thought the Terrafirma springs were a beefy upgrade but the RTE springs seem 2x as thick.
Shipments were accurate never missing anything and all parts fit very well.

Only complaint I have is wishing there were detailed step by step install directions with pics.

It took almost 10 months for the Bilstein 7100 shocks to be delivered. I opted for the medium tuning setup.
Replaced Terrafirma 2in MD springs / shocks and 1in spacer. Previous to that, had the Terrafirma 2in HD setup (way too harsh for me)

Impressions so far -
Only on road driving. Definitely soaks up the bumps better and harshness reduced from previous setup. I’m sure due to the extra inch of travel. Seems more stable on freeway, more planted.
Most noticeable was the reduction in the feeling of the unsprung weight.

I need to take some before and after measurements but the stance looks a bit better. Rear has come up some from previous setup.

**Truthfully for the money the Terrafirma setup provides Big Bang for the buck…

Looking very good mate

One thing (and this is so lame to ask) what color are your wheels? Are they black chromed? Or a darker grey finish? they look good and if you did that yourself w/ a rattle can would love to know the product!

EEExpensive move.
Are you using all that for what it’s designed for?

Not a problem. It’s actually a Jaguar color LKH, I believe is the code. Had the the rims done by paint shop. I initially tried using rattle can myself but didn’t go well !

Getting off topic, but how do you like those Yokohama's? I was just looking at a set for my Tahoe, but opted for the Firestone MT2 instead. Haven't gotten them in yet, but it was a close race between the two.

Curious how many miles you've got on them and any other insight. Hard to find long term reviews of either of those two tires.

Hi Alex_m. Just put the Yokohamas on recently. Maybe have 200 miles on them. Previous tire was the General Grabber X3 275/65/18. You may have made the right choice… They are pretty loud compared to the X3, especially on some road surfaces at around 30-35mph. I’ve tried some different tire pressures from 30-40psi with little change. Cvhyatt is also running these, maybe I just need to play around with the pressures more or drive faster ! How do you like the Firestone MT2?

What is the valving numbers on your front and rear shocks? Mine I believe are the heavy duty and I feel its way too stiff. I'm about to send them in and have them revalved. My fronts are 410/100 and can't remember what the rears are exactly I would have to look.

Totally forgot to update on the Firestones. I love em. Liked em so well I bought another set for my work truck. For a mud tire they are quiet on the road and the tread seems to be lasting pretty well. They do like to be rotated a bit more frequently and they'll cup and get louder if you go too long. I rotated them in an X pattern after around 6k miles and they smoothed back out and quieted back down. I think I've got around 10k on my set now.

The Tahoe set moved to the Disco. I've only been on one wheeling trip with them, but I thought they performed well.
