you might see if you can find rubber freeze plugs in that size. yes, rubber freeze plugs they tighten up with one nut in the middle.

Part number ERR7229. I haven't found anyone online in the US that shows it, but they can probably order it at most of the places... certainly roversnorth could get it or if you have a local dealer, you can see how much they charge.

Not to hijack your thread, but can you run around without these installed?

I will probably never do any sort of off-roading as this is a DD for me. I'm just wondering with winter coming and the flywheel being exposed to the elements will it cause any issues with the sensor or anything else?

After my rebuild I was able to get the passenger side plug back in but the driver plug is difficult due to the trans lines running right there.

So, can I leave it out or should I continue to fight on to get it in there?

no problem, when you start it up and the bellhousing is filled with frozen Ice and snow the flywheel will just grind it up. It might even come out the other hole as a 40w snow cone.
