Running great!

Running great!
A friend is buying a 2003 D2. I just recommended he comes on this forum but warned him that nobody posts about their D2 running great so when you read the forum it's as if all the D2s out there were half apart with bad head gaskets, cracked blocks, and leaky sunroofs.
I did the head gaskets not too long ago, fixed the sunroofs a couple years back and it's running great!
Sorry I should not say love-hate, I should say: love, and then in depth intimate love as you are elbow deep in oil and you have bleeding knuckles, you still love the truck, just differently...
Just a quick positive post about the love-hate relationship we have with our trucks, I'm in the love part now
Of course I have some more wrenching to do but nothing major on the horizon!
130000 miles
Cheers
David

I like how even though you wrote that your truck is running great you posted a pic of it with the bonnet up.
Perhaps that's to try to throw the Rover gods off the trail. Their quick look at your pic should lead them to think there's a problem.
The Rover gods tend to bring pain and misery to anyone who gets too comfortable with how their truck is running. I hope you haven't jinxed your truck!

Your post gives me hope that mine will be on the road again. It's unconditional love really. I bought a new vehicle a little over a week ago as I knew that 'this time' would be a little different than the times before and her 'spa time' would be a little more involved. I don't know what is wrong yet but I'm assuming a rebuild, used engine or new engine will be in order.
Some people get it, some people don't (people who have never owned a Rover). Even if you don't do all of the work on your Rover, they get in your blood. I'm attached to mine and will do all that I can to keep her alive. I was out at my parents the weekend she broke down and my dad actually groaned when I told my mom that I was going to look for another engine. Practical? I don't know.. Love? Yes.
Good post - thanks for sharing
