the endcaps with the foglights are separate from the center front cover. If not damaged you don't need new end caps so the fog lights should not effect the cost of the center.

I cracked mine and found a used one from someone who bought a steel bumper, this was at an offroad/overland specialty shop. Cost me $60 and was already removed.

I'd be curioius about the plastic welding option.

However the best option is as stated above, steel bumper :-)

Whew, as a college student I hope you don't make him pay $500

This only applies to 03-04 bumpers. 1999-2002 requires bumper replacement.

Thanks for the correction. The plastic center cover for my 03 would have been $500 new replacement cost. So money wise its about the same.

As a professional driver for 20+ yrs now that is NO excuse, ALWAYS look before backing, just because you are only parked for a min does not mean you dont have to look before backing.
If you are not sure whats behind, you GOAL (Get Out And Look)
More children are killed by backing than any other moving vehicle incident.
We have safety meetings on this type of thing once a week.
He is young, you said that yourself, judging his lack of accidents or traffic violations is like saying "well at least she's never gotten pregnant" about a girl who just had sex for the first time yesterday.
Look for a used bumper cover on ebay.

Oh good grief! Quit being so freaking judgmental people! First of all, I don't need to make an excuse for anything. We live MILES from anyone else. If a child was in our driveway at 11p at night, there is a bigger problem at hand. He is an excellent driver and very careful. He drives like a grandma. Give it a rest. This is my first visit to this silly forum and will certainly be my last. Thanks for the warm welcome. Now get a life!

Mine had a cracked front bumper when I bought it (rear bumper as well, I think the PO parked by braille). I fixed both of them with some 2 part bumper epoxy and some bumper paint from the parts store. I got the epoxy from Ebay UK and it was about $50 for the kit that included the applicator gun and the mixing nozzles. They had similar stuff at the autobody supply store but it was 5 times the price. Came out pretty good, a lot better than $500 for a new one (I never did run across a good used one, the salvage yards said they had a waiting list from various body shops), Hope this helps

Safety has no quitting time.
Complacency is when accidents happen.
There is no deadline thats worth a flatline.

Not for nothing, but this sounds like a simple fender bender at relatively low speed, IN THEIR DRIVEWAY.

He's a young driver, who's obviously still learning, who made a mistake that he's definitely going to learn from given the astronomical cost of a bumper on one of these trucks.

You guys are riding him like he plowed into a church van full of nuns and orphans while he was sexting with a fifth of jack in his hand.

The reaction to this, It's just a little over the top, I'm just saying.
