Anyone with a D1/D2 that actually uses their rear nets for storage know how they all sag eventually. Well the 500.00 D2 I've been tinkering with of coarse had a nasty saggy set of them. I didn't want to have to tear the headliner down just to pull them tight and have them sag again, so I've come up with a quick & easy fix that you can completely customize per your liking.


If anyone is familiar with backpacking equipment or any good trail bag you've all seen the cord locks used to tighten pouches with misc gear in them. Well good old Wal-Mart has a box of 4 cord locks for like 2-3.00. I had a set I'd forgot about as spares from my Jeeping days. Well I just went out to the 500.00 D2, centered the cord lock, threaded the slack thru it by making a loop and then pulling it tight. You can get the same black cord locks from Wal-Mart or go online and get them in several different styles and tons of colors.


It's quick, simple, and it looks factory IMHO.





Depending on how much your nets have sagged the loop length from the cord lock will vary, but I think it looks a hell of a lot better vs a pair of saggy nets and it's now adjustable for the misc items you place into them and you can keep stuff from flying out of them now.

Yes walmart on the camping isle. It’s now in a 3.96 box that has 4 cord locks, some zipper pulls, and web belt loops.

I'd love to see an option that doesn't end up with the droopy string

 

Droopy string all depends on the droop you’ve got. I’m 5ft 8 and they were no where near my face. You can sinch em up with the cord locks & tie a knot after it, or be brave & cut the droopy cord in half and then install the cord lock (taking out the slack), but depending on what you store back there the cord locks “could” slip off.

Other alternative is to drop the net assembly corners, and either cut the cord and re-install the metal band at the end, but that plastic is rather easy to crack/split.

I think the loop is nothing vs a 1.5ft wide net dangling right in front of your face. I’m used to seeing cord locks with loops on camping/hiking/kayaking gear so it honestly doesn’t stand out and all and extra loop makes the storage net adjustable for misc stuff.

 

I bought two slide locks from Wally World. $1.45 fix. Awesome. Love this fix. One easy fix. Now if the rest were that easy.....
