SAI pipe - corrugated vs smooth pipe considered an upgrade?
Hey all! Was working on my exhaust manifold and the SAI pipe and was wondering if swapping out the corrugated pipe with the newer style smooth pipe is considered a beneficial long term upgrade. The corrugated version always struck me as kind of fragile over the long term.
@Brandon318 just more durable, I have seen one in person, the one I saw would never twist and crack like the OEM one
Noted. I'm considering getting a pair before they're NLA. I feel like it's only a matter of time until these corrugated ones rip, like next time I need to do valve cover gaskets or something.
If you are careful with the corrugated ones I consider them a benefit because I don't bolt them to the intake manifold I bend them down slightly so I can remove the intake manifold without removing the Sai tubes. I have also had my welder repair the corrugated ones which essentially turns them into solid ones.
