SAI pump
Now ive never heard one of these this lound before, EVER on a car. in fact, this is the first time ive ever even heard one.
ive been dickin around with the wires for the past few days tryin to get rid of the short thats blowin fuse #2, and i have gotten it to the point where it doesnt blow anymore, but now whenever i start the truck, it sounds like i have a industrial strength hairdryer under the hood for the first 15 seconds or so then it goes off.
is it normal to be this freakin loud? think its clogged up or somethin else?
codes havent come back for the SAI since, but the maf/o2s remain intermitten.

You can pull the back cover off the SAI pump and check the filter. First remove the cruise control from the fender to get access to the SAI pump. The cover clips on with 3 clips, use a screw driver to pry it off. Check the foam filter, it has most likely disintegrated. Start up the engine without the filter and see if the noise is any better. Replace the filter, I cut one out of some spare foam I had.
sorry for the long delay but i just got back to workin on the rover, new job, lots of hours, all motorcycle
anywho, I removed the filter but it looks good, not dry, and no debris etc.
i did notice though that its blowing alot of air in a jet stright back out towards the front of the car, is this normal, or perhaps the valves arent opening up?
is there any way to test the valves, and the solenoid thing that opens them? i checked all the vac lines and connections, they all seem snug and are not dry rotted etc. when i removed one of the vac lines there was a pressure release hiss so im guessing the vac container isnt leaking either... i pulled the solenoid off and give it a look but i dont know how to test it off the car, can i use a voltmeter across the pins to test for a certain resistance or continuity etc? or can i short it on the battery to see if its supposed to make a noise/vibration indicating its working?
