Default SAI Tubes

I have been thinking about removing the aluminum secondary air pipe the is mounted on top of the coil packs to make the plug wires more accessible. I would replace it with black flexible plastic pipe similar to the factory connection that runs from the pump itself.

I think it would make working on the rover much easier as I could remove it easily if needed, and I could attach it to the factory bracket the existing aluminum pipe attaches to. Any potential downsides? I can't seem to think of any and would appreciate any input. Thanks.

How often do you change plugs wires that the SAI tubes are such a huge problem?
It makes no sense to me, really.

I agree, if you are using good wires, chances are you won't go back to the coils for 100,000 miles.

Fair enough. I am using STI wires at the moment. I've had them or about 5k miles. I'm not dead set on doing it, but I was thinking the next time I had the opportunity it wouldn't be a bad idea to make things easier in the future. Thanks for the input -- I guess it's a no go.

Default I hear you...

I hear you on that one...just a bunch more sh$T in the oven box. If i had more time and $ i would remove the SAI system all together on mine ... What a worthless piece of crap.....I think all you would need is a bcm from a non SAI truck...Funny thing is when i got my truck ...mine wasnt even working..the plug on the pump was disconnected and i had no check engine lights....plugged in and sounds like a 747 starting up... what a pile....

Default get rid of it..

I did a little reasearch and you can ditch it... my state and most dont require it...You need to change the ecu ecm that did not require SAI and you are good to go. They are under $150.00 and i would imagine a $80.00 auto logic reset. Still worth not haveing all that crap in your engine... I think i am going to scrap mine as my motor is out now....

Very cool. Thanks for doing the research. My state (Alabama) doesn't even know what emissions are -- although I did come across an emissions inspection station today that was giving free readings (the first I have ever seen around here). Let me know how the change goes for you -- I would definitely love to get rid of that crap!
