I made a rough cut with an angle grinder to cut away most of the area.

nice tip on that dremel saw. from experience if you use the normal wheel it will glob up with plastic and refill on the cut....i guess that doesn't do that as it cuts and finishes.
imo, you would have to secure it from the inside with a flat thin piece of something as trying to just get the expoxy (J&B) in the crack will fail sooner or later.
