Default Saying goodbye to the defender

I thought LR owners of all models might like this article from Bloomberg:
Land Rover Defender Photos - Bloomberg Business
Did not know that the Defender concept was based on the ****** Jeep. I think we should keep that one to ourselves

I only saw a handful of safety glasses, one pair were on top of a guy's head. About twenty years ago, I shot video and stills in a plant in Luxembourg. I asked the plant manager for where to find the safety glasses. He told me, "Oh this isn't like the U.S. You don't have to have them." I said you don't understand, I WANT safety glasses. I've shot in a lot of plants in the U.S. and photos like those would never pass ROI (release of information.) I'll have to go through the pictures again to see if anyone is wearing hearing protection.

Nope. No hearing protection.

Well there goes my hopes for them ever releasing it in the US. Sigh.

Why, in 60 years of production, did they never sell to USA? It's all we ever wanted, not these crappy, comfortable, useful discoveries that are troublesome and complex.

The Defender 90's were sold in the US in the late 1990's, my boss at the time had one. Lots of fun, you needed a kidney transplant if you drove for more than two hours in it.

Man, that is depressing.

But I guess it shouldn't be surprising.

Move to Canada

They have a 15 year import rule instead of a 25 year import rule. Lots of Defenders here. I am lucky to have my company move me to Canada a couple of years ago. I drive a Disco, but I seem to be outnumbered by Defenders in the Rovers Club.
