Default Scored some steel wheels, now I need tires

Just scored a set of 15x6.5 BMW steel wheels for under $150 for all 5 now I need help picking a tire. I don't plan on doing anything crazy with my D2 but it will be going off road. With the recent wheel purchase I can get a good deal on some 30" tires but don't know what width to run on the 6.5" wheel. Is a 10.5 ok on that narrow of a wheel? Any pointers on tire size would be great.

It varies from tire to tire. look at tirerack.com and click specs, and it will show you the range of rim widths that you can use for a particular tire, and also the size of rim they used when they measured it.

I tried that but most anything on there in a 30 or 31 they recommend on at least a 7.5" wheel. Tire Rack is very conservative on their sizing because they don't want to be lieable for any issues.

It's not tirerack being conservative. They get their info from the manufacturer. Maybe you can find something in a 7.00-15? Also there are a lot in 30-9.50-15. That's a stock size for some Jeep Wranglers.
