Started up the D2 and it was hella loud and my check engine light came on. Some bastard stole my catalytic converters!! Can I straight pipe it or will the check engine light stay on?

 

the light will stay on until you replace everything. Go with the Magnaflow header back that Atlantic British has, comes with cats, buy you will still need to supply sensors

 

That's really brutal - sorry to hear this.

I'm in Portland OR and where cat converter theft is a very hot topic. People are stealing cats on Priuses and trucks (like ours, because they're easier to get under). Literally happening nightly in my neighborhood in Portland.

 

Ugh... I wouldn't even blink if someone gave the theives "lead poisoning".

 

Why is this happening?

 

Tweakers can sell the cats for the scrap platinum within-you should visit your local recycle center to see if you can find your cats in the pile This same cat theft off a Disco happened to someone in California on here...

 

It should be illegal for junkyards/scrappers to buy these off them.

 

A lot of places it is. But not all Junkyards follow the laws, like the ones that take manhole covers for recycling.

 

Bastards hit two of our fleet rovers and ripped the cats off with chains a few years ago... feel the pain.

 

Sadly this is a regular thing over here in England too. Druggies and now people down on their luck due to covid are the culprits.
