No they are steel. Safety Devices roof racks was the original Land Rover roof rack, it was used in all the Camel Throphy events, I thought that they went out of business.

I printed out the membership form for Solihull Society today. Going to get it filled out and in the mail on Monday.

Unless the seller sells it to someone else I'll definitely be buying it. I told them I would give them the $600 even though they had or best offer in the ad. I just wanted to get some opinions whether it was worth it, which I pretty much knew it was.

I got so excited about seeing a SD rack for sale I forgot about getting my windshield replaced on Friday. Unfortunately I can't afford both and the windshield is the priority, no matter how much I want the rack. I made sure to tell mattrickman that I couldn't buy so he could. It sucks being responsible sometimes.

windshield can wait... no sarcasm when I say: they don't just randomly shatter

i'm surprised your insurance company doesn't have a $0 glass deductible

In Arizona my insurance did have the $0 deductible for glass but not here in Colorado. My windshield is bad enough that I keep expecting to get stopped every time I pass a cop. Plus my inside rear view mirror fell off and took a chunk of the windshield with it. I have a trip to Arizona planned for next time I'm home from work and given my history of getting pulled over going through New Mexico I really don't want to give the cops down there any more reasons to stop me.

The new SD racks that are coming back to the US are prepaid 1/2 before shipping and a price of $1900 .
If you can find a good used one go for it.
New ones ?? tell me more ??
Some people heard they went out of business, well truth be known, the economy hit them early on last year and they decided to limit the production of certain products they build. They lost their importer here in the states so known have come in for most of 08.
The States now have a new importer but with their terms, 1/2 down 1/2 on delivery and over $1900 I think they will not sell many here, should be available in the UK again.

OH.. and AK, These seem to come up for sale a couple times a year out here, so you will probably find another one.....

If this one doesn't work out I think I am going to order a:
Voyager Rack from:

I'll keep looking for them. Hope next time one pops up I'll have the money and nothing critical to replace. I do like the looks of the voyager rack also. i especially like the top bar to protect the lights mounted on the rack. If I go with the lights I want I'll have about $800 in lights mounted on the rack so the more protection the better.
