SD rack without clamps.
I've got the opportunity to buy an SD rack, but it doesn't have the lower clamp bits. Owner took em off and lost them.
Is this a bit I can fabricate easily enough? I can get it cheap, but is it worth it?

Shouldn't be too hard to fabricate if you have the ability. Just curious, how good of a deal is cheap? There are a couple other option like these which may fit with little to no modification (not sure) or if you search eBay for "van gutter mounts" you should find a bunch of cheaper options that you should be able to modify to work.
I'd be willing to send you pics / measurements of my SD gutter clamps if you choose to fabricate your own. Are you familiar with Google sketchup? I can send you a skb file. PM me.
I love Google Sketch up.
I already have a Hannibal rack, which I love, but I'm thinking i could sell that, get the SD rack up and running and use that instead. Depends how things work out.
I'm happy welding up some brackets.
Will send PM.
If it doesn't. Is this the only kit I need for an SD rack without gutter clamps? Description fits, but the photo isn't describing what needs to happen, to me.
Cos $75 plus the rack for a steal = tidy profit.
You can use uneven angle bar. 8 pieces of them. Just add washers or spacers between the gap of the clamp. Cant be too thick or it will scrape your door. SD rack has a protruding tube between the mounting holes, thats where you add spacers. You can eliminate the countersinked 3rd smaller hole that pulls the bracket up the clamp. Then you can angle the edges to match the original. Unlike Roverracks which is basically a straight angle and rectangular. Let me know if you need pictures of the piece.
