SD Trim?
Can anyone give me an overview of the various Discovery II trims, specifically for the year 2000? Mine is an SD, but I have no idea how that compares to the others. I know mine is missing quite a few features such as front fogs, sunroof, etc. Would like to know what else is out there. Thanks!
I just bought an 01 SD and it too is lacking some features. I have no sunroofs which from what I am told is a fantastic selling feature as they all leak so be thankfull for the hard top. I have the electric seats, no adjustable arm rest but do have a center console thing that I rest my arm on and has two cup holder in front of the window switches. I have some wood trim on dash , no fogs, 6 cd changer is under passenger seat, I have a hill decent button, air, its pretty basic but I feel like I am lacking nothing and I owned an Saab aero prior to this so even in base trim these are fine vehicles. My seats are a vinyl leatherette, I will definitely be finding leather. My only hope is that I am not missing some really cool chasis item that I cant put on after the fact. I know I am missing the cornering aid, cant remember the name but my steering fluid reservoir only has one cap and I thnk that is it for now. if you need any more comparison, just ask, I can help you out as much as possible. enjoy your rover!
ive been trying to figure out something similar. i believe i have an se model. i do have leather, stupid sunroofs, captains chairs, hdc, fogs, 18in wheels, cd changer, heated seats and windscreen. i do not however have SLS, ACE, or SAI. the build sheet on mine is strange. we think somebody ordered it.
This may help:
YEAR TO YEAR CHANGES
*
2000 Land Rover Discovery:*Addition of an integrated compass to the rearview mirror was the only notable change for 2000. A new fuel-filler-door indicator went on the instrument panel. Ford bought Land Rover from BMW this year.
2001 Land Rover Discovery:*For 2001, the Discovery reverted to three trim levels--SD, LE and top-line SE. Adding the optional 3rd-row seating changed badging to SD7, LE7, or SE7. An optional SE/SE7 performance package included 18-inch wheels and Active Cornering Enhancement. A rear self-leveling suspension was standard in "7" models, and available for the LE and SE. Leather interior trim was standard for the SE/SE7. A new 10-speaker, 220-watt premium audio system became available this year.
2002 Land Rover Discovery:*A new top-line HSE edition with DVD-based entertainment and navigation systems debuted this year, joining the base SD and midline SE. The LE model was gone. An optional Suspension Package for the SE/HSE added Active Cornering Enhancement. A rear self-leveling suspension was standard on seven-passenger models. Leather upholstery was standard on the SE and HSE, along with 18-inch wheels (versus 16-inch for the SD). A limited-production Kalahari off-road edition went on sale later in the year.
2003 Land Rover Discovery:*A 217-hp 4.6-liter V8 replaced the 4.0 V8. The grille, headlamps, and front bumper were restyled for '03, and instrument graphics were also revised. A rear-obstacle-detection system was new and exclusive to the HSE.
2004 Land Rover Discovery:*In 2004, Land Rover produced 200 limited-edition G4 Editions, named for the Land Rover sponsored off-road challenge. The G4 is orange and includes self-leveling suspension, front brush bar, rear access ladder, and lamp guards. Also new in '04 is a driver-activated locking center differential.

Wow I got the bottom of the bin truck, but somehow it feels alright to just have the basics, it still feels tough as nails and I cant think that I would add a thing other then some exterior mods that nobody had from the factory and will be bought aftermarket. Oh and if anybody wants to get rid of their leather seats let me know, I am just looking out for your best interest, I heard they can cause chaffing, sore lower backs and will reduce horsepower and torque considerably, as well as all radio stations will play only

For 03/04 the level designations changed to S, SE, and HSE. With a 7 indicating the third row seating in the HSE model.
Upgrades such as "cold weather package" were also available which included heated seats, windscreen, mirrors, etc in lower level models.

SLS and ACE were more common in the 7 seater models.
And SAI is for california and states with higher emission standards
Edit : also all discoverys had most of the wiring installed even if the package wasn't selected from the factory -- for instance if you want to add heated seats all you have to do is add the switches, the wiring and the heat pads are in all models with leather.
Also you will find the 2 plugs under the hood by the windscreen for the heater elements
