Tons of smoke only comes from the induction cleaning, not the crank case cleaning or running it through the gas tank.

Any of the flavors of Rotella should give enough detergent to clean out the crank case.

If you are concerned, run the Rotella, check how clean your oil is after 500 miles... If clean then don't worry, if black, change it out right then. It's cheap enough... Then see how long it takes the next oil fill to get black... Eventually you should see improvement.
