Thanks for the input and the a4 even though its the same thing as a passat basically is more refined from what i understand and has less problems. plus audis you can pick up cheaper then a VW here. I've seen 2 03 S models go for $8800 on this lot down the street from my stepdads

Please do not let anyone tell you that the a4 will be less problematic than a passat. Remember, the difference in the a4 and passat (if you are looking at 2 same year) is the a4 has the same drive train but generally "upgraded" electronics. This does not always mean better as many times the bugs have not been worked out and the parts are more expensive. I currently own a 2007 passat, and previously had a 2008 a4. I would trade the a4 for a passat again any day of the week.

LOL.......And what Planet does your stepdad live on? I want to ship my rover there to sell.

Bottom line is you might find some poor sap to pay that much for a D2 but I bet it takes you a year or 2. Anyone that knows these trucks won't even look at an ad for an 02 D2 over $5k. I might pay over 5k for an R2 D2 if you find one

There was an 03 up here on craigslist that was listed at like $7900 with a top-hatted block.

If the lights still work and it still makes that cool sound on the R2 D2, I'd pay $5001.

If you're looking for someone here to say "discos bring big money," you have come to the wrong place lol. Anyone that frequents the forum knows these trucks CAN be had for low money, but that doesn't mean every truck should be lowballed.

Set the price where YOU want it (within reason), stick to it, and you will get it done. May take some time though and the truck will need to look the part. I have had good luck with every vehicle I have sold, but it takes major elbow grease to top market value.

Sorry, but I had my 04 Disco SE7 with TF 3" lift and new duratracs and bunch of other goodies and maintenance all done for sale for 6 months with an asking price of $6k. Now dont get me wrong she wasnt a perfect doll but she was a good running unit with a FULL maintenance history including headgaskets, however, it took 6 months for a buyer to come along and give me a decent offer (not 6k) otherwise it was 2-3k lowballs all day. Sorry, dont mean to be a killjoy.

Also, for what it's worth. There are those of us who are willing to pay a premium for a Completely Stock vehicle if it's really clean. I passed on a number of lifted, chopped, geared, etc, because I wanted a babied garage kept vehicle that hadn't been beat up yet. That's just how I Roll. and I'm sure there are others who feel the same.

I agree with you. I always look for stock "soccer mom" cars. If it looks like a kid drove it up the Rubicon Trail I'll pass. I think we all buy these trucks knowing we will never get back what we've got into them.
