Service engine soon blinking Discovery V8
Hi everyone! I'm using google translate right now, so excuse me for my typing errors. I have a Discovery 2 2004 V8 4.6L, it has 102 miles, I was selling it for 5 months in a car sale, today I took it out of there due to not having a successful sale, when I started it (in fuel reserve) I realized that the engine service light also came on, then when leaving, when it reached 2,000rpm it began to flash nonstop. someone said it could be the o2 sensors which they recommended me to remove and clean with ultrasound, but the problem persists, I put more gasoline (in my country gasoline is around 80 octane) and this problem continued, I decided not to turn it on again until I can't get a scanner, but while I do, I'll post my problem here to see if someone can help me! while he was at the car dealership, they put gasoline in it from stored fuel drums, could it have anything to do with this? water or any residue from those drums fell into the tank of my discovery and caused this problem? Greetings from Venezuela.
SES blinking is a sign of a catalyst damaging misfire. It could be bad fuel but also your octane rating is too low for the ECU to compensate. These trucks were tuned to run with 91+ oct here in the US. Not sure if that's the same case for trucks sold in other regions.
Fresh fuel would be my first go to but then a scanner to watch the o2 sensors and scan codes would be my second move
If the miss fires are on the same coil pack a new set of coil packs would be replaced. Since it's new to you new quality plug wires and plugs should be on the to do list already.
Without a scanner you're just going to guess at parts.
