Default Service engine soon - codes

Hi all. Sorry for starting different threads but I figured diff issues warrant diff threads.

looking for your inputs on the codes I was able to pull. It showing a Service Engine Soon light, solid and not flashing. Per the PO this truck 2004 disco2 had its original catalytic converter recently stolen so they put in a new Y-pipe. My guess is they didnt replace the O2 sensors at that time, or sensors have loose connection, or the new Y-pipe is inefficient. Please let me know what you think. Thank you!

Could be the sensors or wires were damaged during the theft. I would check that the O2s look in order, then clear the codes to see if they return after driving.

Lol it could be so many things. Stuck purge valve wiring plugs rarely it’s the sensors themselves

Thanks folks for the suggestion. I was hust checking and found this connector just dangling in there. Is this the O2 sensor connnector and do I see a bolt where the sensor is supposed to be? (see pic)

That looks like the O2 connector, but it doesn't go onto that bolt. It slides onto a small tang, not a bolt.

Your codes are showing errors for both sides of the engine though. They need to be cleared before you start worrying about checking things -- these codes won't go away on their own.

Uhh...Pretty sure the "bolt" is the plug that ships in the O2 sensor bung in the collector when you get new cats. Looks like you are missing the O2 sensor, at least on this side. Probably on the other side two.

But without the O2s and a workaround you're always going to get codes and SES, which is what the OP is asking about.

are you also missing the other 3 O2 sensors?

I can see running without rear O2 sensors, but I'm pretty sure that the fronts are needed for correct injector metering... except at WOT...

and of course you will always have 'codes' without all four working. And the harness may have been damaged when perps yanked out the old cats, so even if you plug in new sensors, they may still not work....

Thanks folks. I do plan on getting this fixed with new sensors and any harnesses as needed. Im still new here and just wanted to confirm if those loose ends were indeed related to the O2 sensors, and based on your replies it does look like it. I’ll check other items on my rig and get a list of to-do and will keep you posted on progress. Thanks all !
