Default Ses

So, I have the Service Engine Soon light on. After months, yes full months, of no issues. The problem is that my OBD code reader does not show an error.

The vehicle runs fine, the engine is making the ticking again. I am paranoid about oil pressure, oil pump. The ticking is only sometimes and only at idle. Makes me think oil pressure. Oil level is good, oil is very clean, Rotella.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a shop, not the dealer, in the Princeton, NJ area? There are a couple shops I have used in the past on other cars, but historically I have done the Land Rover work myself. No time currently.

Any input is appreciated.

Have you reset the SES with the reader, and have it come back to show no codes.

I know Halloween is soon, but that's a bit too spooky.

Which reader?

Hmmmm... SES light with no codes... I would try a second scan tool. You could go to an Autozone or similar and have them scan it for free. If their scan tool comes up with the same result, the only other thing i can think of is the bulb could be shorted to power somehow??? I don't know.
If you have a scan tool with live data, there should be a MIL data pid which will tell you if the computer has commanded it on or not. My wife's car actually has the opposite problem as yours. It has no SES light, but it has a pending code for a large evap leak. It actually passed inspection like that.
Good luck, I hope you get it figured out.
