@Extinct Great info. The first mod we did when we bought it was your low temperature thermostat and the second was a scan guage. We're doing everything we can to keep temps under control.

Not that anyone was waiting for an update, but we did the head gaskets in our home garage (and the coil pack relocation too) and it has been running like a top ever since.

Hard to get much better than that. Now lube the window regulators, make sure the transfer case has oil in it, coat the CPS cover with foil, and remove the headliner and fix all the leaks in the sunroof pans.

Extinct - I don't follow. Just what do you mean by "parallel to the cylinder diameter", please? How does cylinder diameter have a linear orientation to which cleaning would be parallel?

Radially in circles larger than the cylinder. It creates microscratches that grip the gasket and increase resistance to blowouts.
