Default She stopped leaking out of the blue

So I drove my 94 D1 about 900miles round trip and now no more leaks. I used to find PS fluid, tranny oil and motor oil on the drive way but after the trip no more leaks. And yes I checked and there IS fluid left, not empty. Truck does consume more motor oil now though, about 1/4 quart per month.

My truck is the same way, leaked like the Titanic when I first got it, now she leaks less then the Bismark.

She will use a quart of motor oil after I change it in the first 1,000 miles, then I top it off and she does not use any more for the next 4,000 miles, weird.

my old VWs would leak like hell at first... after a good run, the seals and gaskets heat up, absorb moisture, etc etc.

that first 1k oil eating is weird tho...

Don't get too comfortable, truck is just throwing you a change-up.

I use Mobil 1 15w-50 in the summer and 5w-30 in the winter with Wix or Purolator oil filters and I change it every 5,000 miles.

the reason I ask is we had a bike at work, kawasaki zx7, that the owner swore by semi-synthetic, however, he had a similar oil eating issue at the beginning of the oil change cycle.

we changed to a full synthetic and it stopped it.

I think the oil was picking up contaminates in the first part of the cycle, and "thickening up"

i dunno, but it seems reasonable?
