Looks like I'm heading in the direction of Bilstein now. While King would have been a great shock, and I would have been very happy with them. This would have to be a complete custom made shock, and I'm not wanting to spend that much money.

I also came across Toddco Suspension, and they carry Pro Comp w/remote resi shocks. Does anyone have any experience with these shocks? Here's a link, and it's the last item on the page.

I've had pro comps before on jeeps n f150 n they were fine for off-roading. They handle like racho's in my opinion

I was curious since I haven't heard anything about them.

I called GBR this morning, and talked with them for about 20 minutes. He really filled in the blanks for me on the suspension questions I had. After talking with him I'm almost leaning towards an entire OME kit. With the Bilstein's they have a 4-6 week turn around, and that's fine for right now. If we're on the road with that kind of lead time that would be an issue for me. I like the idea of having shocks with resi's, but with that comes more maintenance. It's also more complicated to fix or replace something like this while you're traveling, and that's an area of concern for me. Having something like OME would be much easier for us to get a replacement if needed, and it's completely bolt on.

So as of now it looks like we'll going with RTE 2" paired with OME shocks, or we'll go with OME everything.

im in the same boat as you. Ive got OME coils (medium front and Heavy/medium rear) and found out that there are a plethora of shock options but the OME is making the most sense. No modification needed, large customer following, etc. The only downside i was attempting to avoid was that the OME's are only slightly longer than the factory shocks, but after flexing around with the OME coils and the factory shocks its obvious that i don't need much more extension. Not at the cost of having to change even more parts to accommodate another shock.

While I want something more it's just not the right choice right now. I don't need to add any complication to this.

I'm going to be order OME 60024L shocks for the front, and 60025L for the rear. I just need to decide it I want to go with OME or RTE springs.

Always match the new suspension springs to the rebound/droop rate of the shock absorbers, it's a simple math calculation or even find someone who can do the calc. If you buy the springs and shocks from the same outlet source ask them to do the math.

Ome and everyone that retails for them suggest and carry only one shock option generally and that's their stiff nitro sport. Ome recommends it for any of their Springs rates for the disco II

Excuse me, but I'm a little gullible on shock selection. What does the +2 or +3 mean??

I talked to RTE this morning about options, and came to my conclusion. After talking with both RTE and GBR they both had nothing but good things to say about the OME long travel shocks. After hearing both sides on the springs I'm going with the RTE 2" springs.

I'll be ordering this stuff in about a week. Seems like my pile of parts is growing by the day, and my time for getting everything done is only shortening.

+2" or +3" is generally referred to as 'lift' but to achieve this you need similar extended shocks as the shocks limit the max extension. So +2" lift will require +2" longer shocks and so on. To achieve lift you invariably require stronger and longer road springs, i.e., greater poundage rates and physically longer to match the extended shocks. Springs are progressive, too soft and it'll droop right back to where it was and too strong and it'll feel like the suspension is solid and driving on cobblestones.
